My true roots lie
in Jakarta, Indonesia. However, I have a
Dutch passport, and feel 99% Dutch (the remaining 1% of me isn't sure). I
was raised in Groningen, a fun place
in the north of the Netherlands.
I went to school there, and all of my closest friends are from around that
area (most of them have since fled their nests to start a career). That was
the first 19 years of my life.
I started working as a programmer in the games industry when I was 19,
after a one year stint as a Psychology student.
After 1.5 years I moved to the UK, and met the love of my
life, Natalie, who I want to grow
old with! After some more years we moved to the Netherlands. After some more
years, we decided to move back to the UK. So here we are now. We live in Cambridge. It very much reminds me of
one of the Dutch university cities, especially with all the bicycles out
here.
When I was in my
teens, I used to play in a band. We also recorded a little. Here's one of
our better songs, with me on vocals and lead guitar (also note the bonus
track after a long period of silence, as a wink to certain 90's grunge
bands who also did this):
